Club Olympic Training

To facilitate club members we are going to have a lapped swim and run . Participants can choose the short course or the full Olympic distance triathlon. There will be no marshals but we will paint the roads. As it is a training event you must ensure your own safety. The swim course is designed for safety of members.

Swim Route

The swim will start at the carpark at half moonbay. The swim will be a triangle and we will have buoys in the water.

  • Short Course 2 laps - 2 x 375m - 750m
  • Olympic Course 4 laps 4 x 375 - 1500m

Bike Route- 24.23 miles

  • Starts and finishes at half moon bay car park.
  • Exit hazlewood avenue and take a right at the T junction onto R288 towards Dromahair
  • Follow the R288 until just past the Gaelic football pitch on the outskirts of Dromahair
  • You do a U turn and start the ascending towards the old Manorhamilton road.
  • Take a left when you reach the R286 (foot of moragh).
  • The R286 is the old Manorhamilton road
  • Continue in the R286 past Calry church until you reach the R288 at Mulberry Park.
  • Take a left and back out the the R288 towards hazlewood
  • Take a right down hazlewood avenue
  • Take a left to halfmoonbay

Points of note the climb is 3.5miles but is not steep. Its a steady climb but not to difficult.

Run. Again this is to facilitate all club members we will keep it simple

Short Course

  • 2 laps of the Hazlewood forest walk. 4 miles

Long course
  • 3 laps o Hazlewood Forest walk. 6 miles

Finish

Club social BBQ - Mc Hughs Bar - Gratten st - BBQ serving from 8-9pm.
