Categories and Prizes

There are two prize categories with all swimmers are automatically entered into both when they swim. Your three highest scoring races (there is a total of four events) will be used for points. Points from each week go into the league tables.

Handicap Category

Each swimmer will be given a time handicap before each race at pre-race briefing.

For the first race this will be based on recent triathlon swims if available or last years event. Handicaps will be updated each week and will be based on the previous weeks result.

How the handicap system will work

The start whistle will sound at “Go”. Any swimmers awarded a handicap of “Go” ie: 00:00, will start at the whistle. A stronger swimmer awarded a handicap of 2:00 for example will start 2 minutes after the whistle sounds. Start times will be called out by a marshal at the start line.

First over the finish line is awarded 1st position etc.

A Marshal will be in position at the finish line to record your finish time and position.

Points will be awarded, 50 for 1st, 49 for 2nd etc......

Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd,3rd, 4th and 5th Place in the Handicap Category

Outright Category

This category is simple. Your position is determined by how long you take to complete the swim.

This is calculated after the race by subtracting your handicap from your race time. Example: Swimmer crosses line at 15:30 and has a handicap of 5:00, their outright time is 15:30 – 5:00 = 10:30

Points will be awarded, 50 for 1st, 49 for 2nd etc......

Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd,3rd, 4th and 5th Place in the Outright Category and also ladies 1st, 2nd and 3rd
