Lough Gill Swimmers Civic Reception

The swimmers from the lough gill 8.5km swim were last night afforded a Civic Reception at Sligo Town Hall by Mayor Rosaleen O'Grady. This was to recognise the success of the event as a fundraiser for North West Hospice, Sligo.

The swimmers were largely made up of Sligo Tri Club members and the event committee included SamMcGarry, Kieran Fitzgerald and Paul Burns from the club.

Swimmers are pictured with the mayor along with the check for over €11,000 which was presented to North West Hospice on the night.
Included in the photo are club members Lynsey Dunne, Tommy Sheridan, Sandra Deery, Paul 'Sam' McGarry, Kieran Fitzgerald, Shane O'Doherty, Jason 'Skinny' McMorrow, Anthony Blake and Paul Burns.

Plans are already underway for the event in 2012 with plans for expansion to increase the number of participants and even more fundraising efforts. The swim has been nominated by Swim Ireland as the best organised swim of 2011.
