Round 4 race report:

Neil Walton took first place, in a time of just over 1hr, following a hotly contested race with Gary Higgins over the first run leg. The continued into the bike section untill Gary suffered a rear wheel puncture after Strandhill. As a result of this the race for second place ended up in the sprint of the series with Rory OConnor edged out by VOYA sprint prize winner Vincent Nally in the 300m incline to the finish line.

Martha headed home the ladies with a very strong bike run (and having cycled to the event!), but the Division 1 ladies section went to Saoirse ODonoghue who had finished well over the first three events.

Ronan Brennan took fourth spot, which secured him top spot in Division 2; and was followed closley by Roy Kelly, Trevor McSharry, Greg Kelly and Craig Brennan. Michelle Henry followed Jacqueline OConnor into third spot in the ladies section, giving her enough points to win her division. Meanwhile Round 4 VOYA endurance prize winner Carmel Regan battled through mechanical problems to gain the 3 points she needed to win Division 2.

The final results by division can be downloaded as .pdf format to the left of this blog and the finish line video will be posted here early next week.

Hopefully club members can use the race experience picked up over the series in the duathlon on May 1st in Boyle (click here to enter). A venue has been booked by the organizers (club members Tommy & David) for food, drink and music that evening -so it's as goodan excuse as any for a club social.
