Metalman Swim Series Winter Challenge

First off, it's not in the sea!

We're going to run a time trial pool event on Tuesday 14th December in the sports complex pool. The distance is 400m which is 16 lengths. This is a standard swim distance and good for evaluating medium distance swimming (ie 750 & 1500m events). It will be at 9:50pm, we can't get any other times unfortunately.

The event will place 2 swimmers per lane meaning there won't be any crowding. There will be a timing judge per lane, responsible for couting lengths and timing each swimmer. We hope to take at least one split per swimmer also.

This event will allow people check their progress and effectiveness of their training programs. Unlike the other disciplines this is difficult unless swimming masters events. Experienced swimmers can work on pacing etc with less experienced swimmers being able to race for the first time and get used to race preparation, dealing with nerves etc.

There will be a 12 min cut off for the 400m which is for logistics reasons (pool time)

This event is aimed at our intermediate and advanced swimmers as it's too early for our beginners for now. We will run something in the new year for them, for now we need them to continue working on the basics.

There will be trophies given on the night in mens and womens categories.
No cash or other prizes since we want to keep this as simple as possible.
Everyone taking part is encouraged to bring along some support, there's lots of room in the public viewing area.

There will be a small fee of €6, payable on the night, to take part to cover the pool rental and prizes.

Places are limited and only open to Sligo Triathlon Club Members. To reserve your place or if you have any questions email shane_odoherty@yahoo.co.uk , places will be assigned first come first serve so don't delay. You don't need to be taking part in the club swim sessions to take part.
