Anne Marie Ward has been nominated as one of twenty Ladies for World open water swimmer of the year having joined an extremely small group of swimmers, ten!!!, to have swam the north channel from Ireland to Scotland. This is an extremely tough swim much more difficult than the english channel but would not be near as well known outside of ireland and britain.
