The Sligo Triathlon Club Metalman Swim Series Committee is pleased to anounce that entry for the 2011 races will open on Thursday April 7th at midday. Our Event Sponsor is once again Harry's Bar, Rosses Point who have supported this event since it's inception. Sligo Kayak Club and the Civil Defence Lifeboat Crews will be kindly providing water support again this year.
Entry Requirements
It's a club training event, meaning only club members (before April 2011) can take part. You must also be Triathlon Ireland members, Associate/Full. See www.triathlonireland.com for more details. Most members will have this anyways.

We will be making a donation to the Sligo Cancer Support Centre of approximately €300 from this fund. The remainder will be spent on running costs of the event, donation to Kayak Club & Civil Defence, buying hats etc, with any surplus going into club account.
Assigning Places
All Sligo Triathlon Club Members will be allowed enter provided they meet the entry requirements laid out above.

Competition Format
Very similar to last year. Three categories, the popular handicap league, male outright and female outright. Points are awarded for finish position in each race, the best three from four races calculated at the end. There will be a more detailed explanation of the rules closer to the races.
In a change to last year, everyone everyone will start together on the start line. This is to make it more manageable for time keepers. The handicap system will still apply and will work the same as last year.
Depending on level of interest we will probably run a 400m pre race at one of the training sessions, this is aimed at weaker/inexperienced swimmers and will not count towards the points total. If you're interested in taking part in this please indicate so in your entry email.
