The Sligo Branch of Water Safety Ireland have been in touch to let us know they are organizing a swim from Rosses Point beach, around Blackrock lighthouse and back again which is a distance of approximately 5km in total.
The race will take place in September with the date to be confirmed by the event organisers.
The event is to raise funds for equipment for the Sligo Surf Lifesaving Team which includes Sligo Triathlon Club members Rory O'Connor, Scot Reid and Shane O'Doherty.
It's a good one to do for anyone looking for a tough swimming challenge to finish off the open water swimming season.
